Lot 18: Yi-Xin
Traditional fortune label: Moderate
Lot poem
I know your plans and designs are like flowers in the air, Why are you lost in the endless and boundless mist? Keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, For good deeds will bring good rewards, without fail.
Story and textual notes
Flowers in the air: like flowers in a mirror or the moon in the water, having shape but no substance, visible but unreachable. Endless: meaning wild thoughts have no bottom or end. Keep feet on the ground: advising to abandon illusions for reality, leave the wrong and follow the right, and walk steadily and slowly. Thus, all actions will be good, and good rewards will naturally follow. Without fail: meaning retribution or response is certain. From this, academic honors will match your wishes, wealth and interests will satisfy you, and descendants will receive fortune; all can be secured and obtained. The querent will dispel misfortune and gather blessings, and must urgently self-reflect and cultivate virtue.
Interpretation
The beautiful scenes you are imagining now are all empty and impractical. If you continue to daydream blindly, you will plunge yourself into a bottomless abyss. It is better to keep your feet firmly on the ground, take steady steps, forget past fantasies, and do more good deeds; then you will naturally receive good returns. This lot indicates that you are still in the cultivation stage, which may be hard work, but accumulating sweat will surely yield sweet fruits. As long as you dedicate yourself to goodness, your direction will not be wrong.
Traditional summary
Fame and wealth are difficult to obtain, though they may come in the end; pray to the gods for illness; do not ask about lawsuits; travelers are delayed; affairs are hard to accomplish; tend toward goodness for now and pray for blessings.
