Guan Di Fortune Sticks · Lot 24
The 24th Lot: Bing Ding
Traditional fortune label: Good Fortune
Lot poem
All things in spring are tormented by bitter worries, Seeking and striving in summer finally brings peace. Moreover, after the autumn harvest and winter solstice, It is just like riding a crane with bags of gold.
Story and textual notes
Once there was a man: One wished for wealth, another for nobility, and another to become an immortal. One wished to have a hundred thousand strings of coins wrapped around his waist and ride a crane to Yangzhou. At that time, Yangzhou was an excellent place for official posts, known as the land of rich, noble immortals. This person wanted all of these, hence the saying. For those drawing this lot, both fame and fortune will be complete, and prosperity will be satisfying. However, the fulfillment still lies in the time of harvest and fruition; for now, you must endure and hold your ground patiently. Your resolve must be firm and unyielding over time to achieve success. The annual fortune is unfavorable in spring, slightly better in summer, and completely auspicious in autumn and winter.
Interpretation
The beginning of things is always difficult, perhaps with numerous obstacles. As long as you set your goals and carry them through to the end, the final harvest will be easier than you think. As long as you do not give up, you will surely achieve your goal. This lot also indicates seasons: nothing can be achieved in spring; in summer it becomes more feasible; and if it is autumn to winter, success is absolutely guaranteed. This lot also suggests double rewards of fame and wealth. As long as you persist to the end, success is absolutely certain.
Traditional summary
Fame and fortune are within reach, do not act rashly; lawsuits will be resolved; marriage is suitable; travelers are far away; recovery from illness is slow; wealth and nobility require waiting for the right time.
