The 43rd Lot: Wu-Bing
Traditional fortune label: Good Fortune
Lot poem
An official decree arrives in urgent haste, A small boat rushes down the river amid thunderous waves. Although there are many hazards at present, I guarantee you will go and return in safety.
Story and textual notes
An official decree refers to government public affairs. Urgent haste means it is as fast as sparks from flint. The sound of waves like thunder depicts the perilous state of river travel. Guaranteeing safety means encountering danger without being harmed. Going and returning means having the freedom to come and go, ultimately obtaining the auspiciousness of peace and virtue.
Interpretation
Faced with irresistible forces, you must take great risks to proceed, and it appears fraught with peril. However, under the protection of the deities, you will turn danger into safety and return safely in the end. This lot indicates a sign of initial danger followed by good fortune. Although encountering rough seas, all can be safely resolved. If you did not encounter these dangers, you would not be able to enter a state of peace. Once you enter good fortune, the previous disasters will naturally dissolve and disappear.
