The 51st Lot: Ji Jia
Traditional fortune label: Very Auspicious
Lot poem
For now, let all matters follow their own course, When water flows, a channel forms—listen to nature's way. Sigh not over the setbacks of past years, For you will joyfully meet a new fortune that pleases your heart.
Story and textual notes
Let all things take their course. This means that for now, one should submit to Heaven's will and accept fate without forcing anything. 'When water flows, a channel forms' means that wherever the water reaches, a ditch naturally takes shape; this is a law of nature, beyond human effort. 'Past setbacks' refers to the previous state of hardship and difficulty. 'Pleases the heart' refers to the upcoming period of good fortune. In all matters, do not seek haste; over time, success will naturally come.
Interpretation
In the past, you may have felt somewhat blocked, but in all matters you should take things as they come and not force them. At this point, your fortune is like water forming a channel; as long as you let nature take its course, everything will align with your wishes. Do not blame past misfortunes; if you only complain and blame others, even when good fortune arrives, it will pass you by. Welcome the good fortune with a joyful heart, and everything will be even more satisfying. This lot indicates that you should not care too much about temporary setbacks; the coming good fortune is what is truly worth cherishing.
