Story and textual notes
A virtuous person is a good person. 'Naturally harmonize' means that good people receive Heaven's assistance, and their meetings will naturally be prosperous. 'Advice and plans' refers to the mastermind. 'The Old Man of Tianshui' refers to the benefactor met; it may correspond to someone surnamed Zhao from Tianshui, or to the prefecture name Tianshui. 'Public opinion aligns' means the matter conforms to people's hearts and brings joy. Hence, without exhausting human effort, success comes naturally like water forming a channel. Succeeding in laughter and talk is what is called gaining trust without words and accomplishing without action. Why doubt this is most auspicious?

As the saying goes, virtuous people receive Heaven's assistance. They naturally handle affairs smoothly and are uniquely blessed with the help of a benefactor. One does not need to exert much effort. The benefactor is 'the Old Man of Tianshui,' implying the benefactor might be in a place containing the word 'Heaven' (Tian) or 'Water' (Shui). Without wasting effort, one will gain public consensus and win people's hearts, achieving double the result with half the effort, and succeeding amidst laughter and conversation. This can be described as the integration of favorable timing, geographical advantages, and harmonious human relations—a fine fortune that will surely succeed.
