Guan Di Fortune Sticks · Lot 86
Lot 86: Ren Ji
Traditional fortune label: Very Auspicious
Lot poem
A boat loaded with cargo is easy to promote, By accumulating small gains, wealth and abundance naturally grow. Always compare others to yourself, And you will surely find that the future surpasses today.
Story and textual notes
Cargo refers to goods bought and sold through brokers. Being easy to promote means the price of goods matches the season, which is perfect for attracting buyers. However, profit margins should not be too heavy; by accumulating small amounts, one will naturally become wealthy. Comparing others to oneself means measuring the hearts of others by one's own heart; one must not intentionally exploit others. The future will be better than the present. Fate can be relied upon, but moral principles can be relied upon even more. This serves as a warning to those who are wealthy but unkind.
Interpretation
For commonly traded goods, as long as profits are reasonable, they can attract many buyers—this is the principle of high volume with low profit margins. In this way, small amounts accumulate, and over time, one will naturally become wealthy. Always put yourself in others' shoes. Do not deliberately exploit the interests of others, and your future will surely be better than the present. This is ordained by heavenly principles. However, once you become wealthy, you must treat others with benevolence. Those who are wealthy but unkind will cut off their own future blessings. This lot advises that you must progress step-by-step and maintain a benevolent heart; only then can prosperous and happy days endure.
Traditional summary
