Wong Tai Sin Fortune Sticks · Lot 8
The Eighth Oracle Lot: Cuizi Murders His Father
Traditional fortune label: Most Unfavorable Oracle Lot
Lot poem
The crying dove disputes and occupies the magpie's nest, The roles of guest and host are in disorder, bringing unease. Across the ridge, tall pines are clung to by wisterias, Let us guess what these poetic words imply.
Story and textual notes
The 'Book of Odes, Shaonan, The Magpie's Nest' says: 'The magpie has a nest, and the dove dwells in it.' Magpies are good at building nests, whereas doves do not know how to build nests and often rely on malice to seize and dwell in them. This is a sign of the host being bullied by the guest, commonly known as the guest taking over the host's place.
Interpretation
Luoniao refers to the cypress vine, a climbing plant. The pine trees on the ridge are all entangled by them, signifying being trapped and surrounded by petty people. During the Spring and Autumn period, Cuizi's wife was taken by the King of Qi, so he angrily raised troops and killed him. This oracle lot presents the image of the dove occupying the magpie's nest. Throughout the year, guard against bullying by petty people and aggression from wicked individuals, and be careful with your words and actions. In all matters, it is advisable to endure and not fight or compete. There is a fear of being dragged down by disputes, finding it hard to free oneself and having to depend on others. This is a sign of much misfortune and little good luck.
