The 94th Oracle Lot: Bearded Lord Journeys Far to Fusang

Traditional fortune label: Moderate Oracle Lot

Lot poem

One cave can hardly accommodate two tigers, Riding the wind to different ridges, each shelters themselves. Guard one's own famous mountain as a nest, To avoid injury and regret when it is too late.

Story and textual notes

The Curly-Bearded Guest was an otherworldly master who saw through everything. Originally, he also liked Hongfu Nu, but he became sworn siblings with her, leaving the opportunity to Li Jing. The three of them acted righteously and fought together against the tyrannical Sui Dynasty. Later, after the 'Three Heroes of the Wind and Dust' met Li Shimin, the Curly-Bearded Guest perceived the heavenly secret and knew that this man was the true Emperor. Since one mountain cannot hide two tigers, he bid farewell to Li Jing and Hongfu Nu, set sail alone into the raging sea, went far away to the land of Fusang, and became the king of his own mountain stronghold.

Interpretation

As the saying goes, one mountain cannot accommodate two tigers. It is better to perceive the signs and find another mountain to settle in, each having their own environment, to avoid the fate where two fighting tigers must result in one being injured. In all things, one must recognize the signs, withdraw in advance, and not force things to happen. For those who obtain this oracle lot, cooperation between two people will surely fail; even if successful, it will be hard to sustain long-term harmony and mutual help. One must also assess the circumstances before proceeding, like a tiger waiting for the wind to relocate elsewhere, so that both can avoid injury. This lot seems to have good fortune within misfortune; if one can tolerate and yield to others, one can turn disaster into blessing, which must be understood.

Traditional summary

Silkworms and livestock require caution; illness and pregnancy may carry harm; the household has obstacles, doing good deeds brings prosperity; wealth is hard to obtain; marriage is unfavorable; travelers are delayed and have not returned; plans and hopes are discussed in vain.
