Guan Di Fortune Sticks · Lot 32
Lot 32: Ding Yi
Traditional fortune label: Most Unfavorable
Lot poem
Restless worrying of the mind, where does it lead in the end? Illness comes along with many disputes of right and wrong. When everything comes to an end, it is all like a dream; Why not stop scheming and plotting?
Story and textual notes
For those who draw this lot: Labors are in vain with no success. One must guard against illness and there will be many disputes. This is the retribution for habitually scheming, harming others to benefit oneself, and taking dangerous risks for luck. One should urgently make vows and repent, keep a good heart, and do good deeds to regain heaven's favor; only then will there be a turning point. If one still relies on cunning plots, it is just like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, or a shadow. Upon waking, there will only be empty regret, with no real destination.
Interpretation
Usually dealing with people and things with schemes and prioritizing private interests, the result of excessive mental strain brings no good rewards, but rather leaves you plagued by illness and embroiled in disputes. In the end, it is still all in vain. To resolve this crisis, you must start from the heart: let go of selfish desires, turn towards goodness, and do more deeds that benefit others. Only then can you reverse the decline. Cultivate both your heart and your speech, and guard against the disputes brought by gossip to turn your fortune around.
