Guan Di Fortune Sticks · Lot 82
Lot 82: Ren Yi
Traditional fortune label: Very Auspicious
Lot poem
He is also a talent among his peers; I advise you to treat him with special regard and associate with him. At this moment, guest and host meet in joy; In the future, you shall stand shoulder to shoulder with nobility.
Story and textual notes
A talent among peers refers to someone of outstanding caliber. At this moment, they have not yet met their opportunity, so people may overlook them due to familiarity. To treat with special regard and associate means to identify and seek them out from the crowd. The joyful meeting of host and guest represents the friendship formed today. Standing shoulder to shoulder with nobility represents being companions in wealth and status in the future. Things are sometimes obtained unintentionally, and sometimes met with intent; many cases are of this kind. Without grand vision and insight, one cannot appreciate this. One cannot live without friends, and one must especially know how to choose them.
Interpretation
Among the friends you associate with, there is a person of virtue and talent, but currently they have no outstanding performance or recognition. At this time, you must interact with them with special regard, perhaps hosting them generously and establishing a deep friendship. Later, when they become a noble lord in court, you will still be an honored guest around them and receive their promotion. This lot indicates that a future harvest must have its seeds sown today. Waiting until someone rises to a high position to build a connection will be too late. You must carefully select friends to associate with.
