Story and textual notes

Meng Haoran was a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty. In his early years, he lived in seclusion on Mount Lumen and traveled throughout the southeast. He lived a reclusive life and was friendly with monks and Taoists from many famous mountains, interacting with them frequently. He had long held the intention of practicing Taoism. In his poem 'Feasting at Taoist Mei's Mountain Lodge,' there is a line 'Suddenly meeting the Green Bird hero, who invites me to the home of Chisong (Red Pine),' reflecting Meng Haoran's reverence for Chisongzi.

Interpretation

This celestial lot describes Meng Haoran's experience of seeking plum blossoms in Lingnan. Placing plum blossoms petals into wine to drink is an extremely elegant pleasure in life. Encountering a person riding a donkey who arrived a step earlier, and being led by him, he fulfills his wish. With a benefactor leading the way, everything will go as wished. This celestial lot is half-lucky and half-unlucky; although there is no major obstacle, there seems to be a sign of someone else seizing the lead first, which could turn luck into misfortune. The interpreter of the lot should ponder this carefully.

Traditional summary

The household is ordinary, wealth is hard to seek, sericulture and harvest need no worry, illness is not yet cured, travel has delays, starting livestock rearing requires caution, fame is hard to achieve, marriage is unfavorable, pregnancy yielding a son is most joyful.
