In this human world, how many true soulmates can there be? The smashed zither was all because Ziqi passed away. Shedding thousands of tears before the grave, separated by life and death, each in a different world.
Story and textual notes
During the Spring and Autumn Period, there was an outstanding zither master named Bocai. He had a soulmate, Zhong Ziqi. Unfortunately, Zhong Ziqi left this world before Bocai. Bocai was filled with grief and smashed his beloved zither to pieces. Weeping before the grave, he said: 'In this world, only Ziqi understood the meaning of my music. Now that Ziqi is dead, we are separated by life and death, worlds apart; what is the point of playing the zither anymore!' From then on, he truly never played the zither again.
Interpretation
Yu Boya was skilled at playing the zither. When Zhong Ziqi died, Boya believed there were few soulmates in the world. He broke his zither and never played again, henceforth shedding tears before the grave, separated by life and death. This is a sign of deep sorrow and regret. Whoever obtains this oracle lot must be cautious and do more good deeds to turn misfortune into blessing. This oracle lot is most unfavorable. It presents a scene of grief where nothing goes well, and carries the meaning of losing friends and belongings, implying that one's talents are unappreciated. Those who obtain this lot should keep calm, cultivate themselves, focus on studies, retreat for a period of time, and wait for the opportunity to rise again.
