Traditional fortune label: Moderate

A crucian carp is trapped in a dry rut, Its plight or success at this moment is clear to see. If one can bring in the waters of the West River, Whether it will turn into a dragon one day is yet unknown.
Story and textual notes
This oracle lot is based on a story written by Zhuang Zhou: A crucian carp is trapped in a small puddle formed by a carriage wheel rut. Needless to say, everyone understands its desperate plight at that moment. However, if the waters of the West River could be channeled here, the fish in the dry rut would escape this disaster. Returning to the great sea in the future, it might even be possible for it to turn into a dragon.
Interpretation
Drawing this oracle lot is an omen of more misfortune than fortune. The predicament is extremely difficult and dangerous, and one cannot extricate or rescue oneself. It is necessary to wait for a major turn of fortune, or receive assistance from a great benefactor, to finally obtain liberation.
